Regularly scheduled maintenance ensures your Nissan continues to provide efficient, high-quality performance. It also reduces repair costs, as minor issues are detected and fixed before they develop into serious problems. As your Nissan dealership, we want you to know some signs you need to visit us for your Nissan maintenance.
Cupped Tires
Tire tread wears down naturally and unavoidably due to surface friction. Some types of wear, however, are preventable and can help extend tire life. Cupping is a peculiar wear pattern on the outside edges of the tread that looks as if the rubber has been scooped out at regular intervals. Its two main causes are poor wheel alignment and worn shocks.
The shocks make driving more comfortable by reducing bouncing on rough surfaces. They also protect the tires from damage by keeping them in contact with the surface. Wheel alignment is the angle of your wheels relative to the axles, and it helps distribute weight and improve handling. A problem with either of these systems causes tires to hit the surface harder than they should. We’ll find the cause of the problem and fix it.
Pulling to One Side
When you apply the brakes, pressurized brake fluid forces the calipers to close on the wheel rotors. Brake pads inside the calipers generate friction against the rotors, and this friction stops your wheels. All four calipers close simultaneously on the rotors and should apply equal pressure to ensure your Nissan stops quickly and smoothly.
If your vehicle pulls to one side when you brake, this means a problem with one of the calipers. The affected caliper doesn’t close as it should, allowing its rotor to continue to move until the other wheels stop. A blockage in the brake hose connected to the affected caliper or a rusted or damaged caliper can cause this problem. Our technicians will clear the blockage or replace the caliper.
Musty Cabin Smell
An earthy, musty smell in your cabin means bacteria or mold have moved into the AC ducts. The ducts are dark and cool and contain traces of water, making them perfect breeding grounds for these organisms. They’re drawn in with the air that enters the AC and can spread rapidly and unnoticed during winter when the AC isn’t used.
We solve this problem by adding a powerful antibacterial and antifungal cleaning solution to the AC and switching it to blow at high speed to spread the solution throughout the system. It’s a quick cleaning process, and your cabin will smell daisy-fresh again in no time.Contact our service department today at Performance Nissan of Pompano in Pompano Beach, FL, to book your Nissan’s next maintenance.
